Paradigm’s SUFU system safely recovers fluids during flushing operations of subsea umbilical assemblies. As chemicals become emulsified, they can create blockages within umbilicals, which is often costly and difficult to flush without discharging them into the sea. SUFU contains a fluid recovery bladder that provides secure storage for chemicals and fluids. It can be used to hold a range of hazardous and non-eco-friendly fluids including crude oil. The system is already being used to meet environmental challenges, mitigating environmental and cost impacts. SUFU was recently nominated for The Environmentalist Award at the Offshore Achievement Awards 2015.
The waters on the Aasta Hansteen field are deep, very deep, as much as 1300 metres to be precise, but for the deep-sea fish there was much to watch on the field this year. Pipelines, risers and spooles have been installed and hooked up to subsea templates and umbilicals that were installed last year. The pipelines have been pressure-tested and prepared for production, and mooring lines have been carefully installed on the seabed – everything has to be ready before the platform arrives in 2018. The job was done by Subsea 7 - and done very well.

Published on Mar 8, 2017 Mighty Ships (Great Ships) : Tonsberg Tonsberg carries anything that can be rolled up her ramp: not just automobiles and bulldozers, but also heavy, awkward-sized cargo such as cranes, subway trains, or yachts. In some of the busiest ro-ro ports in Europe, Tonsberg’s crew rushes to overcome the obstacles that could delay her. Sailing across the Atlantic, two storms threaten to cross her path as the crew keeps a sharp eye on the lashings that hold the cargo in place.
This is a discovery channel video of a saturation job I was on, a few years back. We were diving at 530’ during the making of the video. We went to 750’ right after to connect the other end of the pipeline. The video does a good job showing how saturation diving works, however it is a little graining. I have the white tee shirt on and Duane Fishell is my bell partner. 2nd bell team is Brian Musgrove and Rob Vickers. 3rd bell team is Mick Johnson and Mike Bleacher. Rusty Pillow and Rob Fannin (aka Wayne Williamson) are the rack operators running the dives topside. Ray Pepperday is the sat tech. John Callahan is the stand by diver. Peter Gronbeck is the life support tech. Reed Bond was the operation manager at the time, I believe. Mick Johnson and Mike Bleacher made the bell run in the vide...

The appearance of giant craters in Siberia sparked dozens of wild theories about their origins, from meteorites to UFOs. An RT Doc crew travelled to the region to try to find explanations for the geological mystery. Mysterious giant craters have started to appear in Siberia, some say they're a new phenomenon others that they have existed since the dawn of time. This riddle of nature attracted RT Doc to the land of the nomadic Nenets. Our team met visiting scientists and locals, in search of answers either from research data or ancient legend. The natives dismiss scientific explanations for the sinkholes preferring to believe the craters are a “connection to another world.” Anyone who lives there, including the nomads who roam the tundra must hear the voice of the Earth. So they believe tha...
Published on Mar 8, 2017 Mighty Ships (Great Ships) : Northern Leader With a specialized crane system and five propellers to counter heavy seas, North Sea Giant can perform powerful and precise lifts in seas as high as 4.5 metres – four times the capability of other such vessels. On this voyage, she’s out to lift and install the final massive module of the world’s first subsea gas compression station nearly 300 metres underwater. But when strong winds and currents threaten the delicate operation, her team of underwater robots must come to the rescue before the module crashes the entire project!
